West Region Network
Thank you for your interest in caring for military service members, retirees and their families. HNFS is currently accepting network applications for the following:
||How to Join
|Applied behavior analysis (ABA) providers include TRICARE-authorized Board Certified Behavior Analysts® (BCBAs), BCBA-doctoral (BCBA-Ds), licensed behavior analyst (LBA) or other qualified TRICARE-authorized independent providers with a scope of practice for independent practice of ABA.
ABA groups and sole providers: Submit a Network Participation Request Form to start the process. Email it to ACDNetwork@hnfs.com. Please allow us 10 business days to process the form. We'll then contact you to let you know your eligibility status and next steps.
Individual ABA providers joining a group already contracted with HNFS: Complete our TRICARE Provider Roster.
Do not submit individual Provider Information Forms.
|Certified labor doulas, lactation counselors and lactation consultants
If you are interested in joining the TRICARE West Region network in support of TRICARE's Childbirth and Breastfeeding Support Demonstration, please contact us for network information.
Non-network applications are also available.
|Other provider types
||Online applications currently not available.
Note: Providers still interested in supporting our military can become a non-network provider. TRICARE-authorized providers must meet specific licensing and certification requirements, and be certified by TRICARE to provide care under the TRICARE program.
New to our West Region network? Access our Welcome Toolkit for important resources.
HNFS is required to conduct a credentials review on each network provider to determine if the provider meets the minimum requirements of the Defense Health Agency, HNFS and URAC. As part of the provider agreement process, medical, surgical and/or mental health care providers must complete this HNFS credentialing process.
Credentialing application agencies
Network providers must ensure a credentialing application is completed, current and accessible by HNFS. HNFS uses CAQH® for its provider network application and credentialing process in all states except Idaho, Minnesota, and Washington. (These states have special circumstances and the credentialing process can be completed with another entity.)
For all other TRICARE West Region states: Submit/update credentialing applications with CAQH.
- All providers must verify their CAQH profile allows for global access or specifies that HNFS can access their CAQH record.
- For CAQH access issues, contact the CAQH Help Desk at 1-888-599-1771.
Provider groups who have their own credentialing department can allow HNFS to delegate the credentialing to the group. Visit our Frequently Asked Questions to learn more.
Processing timeframes from the time we receive a completed application:
- Credentialing new non-ABA providers: Up to 90 days
- Credentialing new ABA providers: Up to 60 days
We issue credentialing approval letters to the credentialing point of contact for each practitioner.
You can check credentialing status using our Check Credentialing Status tool. Enter the individual (Type 1) or facility/ancillary (Type 2) National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Note: Credentialing status is different than network status. Please refer to your Provider Participation Agreement for network status and effective date. (If your group has a delegated credentialing agreement, contact your group’s credentialing department for your contract execution date.)
Certification of Behavior Technicians
Behavior technicians (BTs) are subject to a certification process in order to participate as a provider in the Autism Care Demonstration. Learn more on our ABA Provider Types page.
HNFS certifies new BTs within 10 days of receipt of a completed application. New BTs can begin to see TRICARE patients on their national or state certification date as long as the group has an executed network agreement by that date. We recommend providers check XPressClaim prior to submitting claims.
Individual BTs will not display in the TRICARE West Region Network Provider Directory and are not available to check their status online.
